Her first order of business was a private meeting with Prince Harry that only a handful of media were allowed access to.
Those inside the room said that the prince looked uneasy as he made small talk with the First Lady. No real hard issues were discussed.
Upon greeting Prince Harry, Melania said: “Thank you. Thank you so much for coming.”
This was the first solo trip outside the country for Melania since her husband, Donald Trump elected. President Trump stands for everything Prince Harry, and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are against. The Royal Trio fight tirelessly for inclusion and mental health where Donald Trump ran his campaign (and still does) on tearing anyone and everyone around him down.
After meeting Melania, Prince Harry heading off to the Jaguar Land Rover Driving Challenge where he sat in the passenger seat of a Jag while the car zipped through the closed course.
Then came the first medals of the games handed out by the prince himself. The Netherlands took the top spot, followed by the United Kingdom and Denmark.
From awarding the medals, Harry quickly headed off for the rest of his busy day as he holds bilateral talks with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and a separate meeting with Governor General David Johnson.
The day will end off on a celebratory note as the Opening Ceremony takes place at the Air Canada Centre with a line-up including Sarah McLachlan, Alessia Cara, The Tenors and Comedian Mike Myers.
Hopes are high that Meghan Markle, the humanitarian and actress dating the prince, will be in attendance but as the time grows closer, it is looking all the more unlikely.
